  Parenting

Children

Having children can be one of the most rewarding things you will do in your life and one of the most demanding. Children's problems usually show up in their behaviour since this is often the only means they have of expressing themselves. Counselling for parents can enable them to do things differently with their children, which opens up a whole new world of possibility for the whole family.

Babies

Babies, birth, bonding and relationships need looking at regularly as soon as there is a baby on the way or has arrived. Sometimes Dads can feel left out during the pregnancy or when the baby is only a few months old and is still very much part of his mother. For the mother, issues of bonding, being a good enough parent and having enough to give can put a huge strain on her emotionally and physically. The bonding process needs careful attention and can be helped along with a therapist. The relationship of the parents often changes as the pregnancy becomes established and when the baby arrives. For new parents this can be a difficult time and support is needed for both of them.

Growing Up Again

Life stages are great indicators for emerging issues of power and identity. Sometimes things left over from adolescence or even earlier can re-emerge as significant life stages occur or when a life changing event takes place. Some helpful information about parenting can be useful to learn about what you need at this time in your life or to look at what was missing as you were parented and can help you as you parent your own children.
